- Toronto music festival Electric Island announced the cancellation of a scheduled Ten Walls performance due to homophobic comments made by producer Marijus Adomaitis. The since-deleted post likened gay individuals to pedophiles, stating, “Unfortunately a priest’s lie for many years was uncovered when children were massively raped. Unfortunately the people of other breed continue to do it and everyone knows it but does nothing.” An Electric Island Facebook post said of the comments, “The nature of the recent comments by Ten Walls are offensive, not acceptable and out of line with the fundamentals and spirit of the electronic music community we cherish.” Adomaitis has since been dropped from his booking agency.
- The Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games committee released its final transportation plans for the upcoming games. While there will be no parking at many sporting venues, there will be increased TTC and GO train service, and a mobile app to help attendees plan their travel routes. Ticket holders are also eligible for free transit rides across the region on the day of their event, and a temporary 235-kilometre-stretch of HOV lanes will be in place for those travelling by car.
