- This morning, Ontario passed new legislation that targets drivers who use cellphones behind the wheel. Fines for distracted drivers will increase from the current $60-500 range to between $300-$1,000, and drivers will be docked three demerit points for each offence. So if you really feel the urge to Snapchat while driving, just pull over, guys.
- Microsoft announced that it will open two new data centres—one in Toronto and another in Quebec City—that will be up and running by the end of the year. The new centres will house the company’s “cloud services” information; the mayor added that more than 14,000 jobs within the city are connected to cloud computing.
- Toronto Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista talks Drake, shoes, beards, and where to get the best haircut. Apparently pro athletes really care a lot about their barbers and fly them around the continent. Who knew?
This article originally stated that Microsoft’s cloud computing centre will create 14,000 new jobs. In fact, 14,000 jobs in the city are connected to cloud computing. We regret the error.
