- York Regional Police officers shot and killed a black bear in Newmarket this morning after the animal climbed down a tree and into a backyard. The bear had been spotted in the area for several days, and reportedly did not respond to less extreme attempts to remove it from the premises. A Regional Police representative says that officers will be following up with the Ministry of Natural Resources to devise a strategy to better handle similar events in the future.
- After a dozen years, A Softer World, the poignant web comic series by Emily Horne and Joey Comeau, published its last panels today. We will miss them.
- Finally, Montreal actor Jay Baruchel spilled on why he left his hometown for our raccoonier pastures (hint: “Quebec’s politics did my head in.”).
