Who needs a gallery when you have the street?
|FIELD NOTES:||Graffiti is the source of many debates but one thing that can’t be denied is the sheer talent of many writers. This piece demonstrates a vast range of style that in and of itself deserves praise. Knowing it was probably created quickly in the wee hours of the morning with only a couple of dim streetlights to illuminate the wall, the skill is becomes even more impressive. Some might say that with this kind of talent the artist(s) ought to stick with the traditional gallery circuit, and yes some street artists do make that transition, but there’s something about the energy, ambiance and guts of street art that could never be recreated in a so-called legitimate venue.|
