In the news: People aren't buying Pan Am Games tickets at a terribly enthusiastic rate (to say the least), and a petition to prevent the rapper Action Bronson from playing Yonge and Dundas Square during NxNE might actually have worked. But it also might not have. Plus, Captain John's seafood restaurant boat is floating off to where all good boats end up as they round the circle of boatlife...the scrap yard.

There are only 44 days left before the Pan Am Games, and so far one million of the 1.4 million available tickets for the sport extravaganza haven’t been sold. Pan Am Games CEO Saad Rafi told The Globe and Mail that he’s not worried, though, because while people haven’t been snapping up seats, those tickets that have been sold have typically been for more expensive events.

Following widespread circulation of a petition to ban him from performing at Yonge and Dundas Square during NXNE on account of his violently misogynistic song lyrics, Rapper Action Bronson tweeted last night that he’d been banned from the festival but then proceeded to later delete said tweet. Festival representatives have yet to address the remark, but released a “sorry not sorry” statement earlier in the day that encouraged those who might be offended by the artist to “check out other Festival showcases” instead.

The sad day has come: Captain John’s, the iconic boat that once housed Toronto’s wackiest (and, definitely, only) floating seafood restaurant at Toronto Harbour, is getting towed for scrap at 10:00 a.m. You can follow the live broadcast of the proceedings here, and pour one out for ol’ John as you please.
