If you watched Josh Donaldson's walk-off homer last night, then you are likely having a happy Wednesday morning. To the rest of you: Happy Wednesday morning! In the news: the Scarborough subway could cost the City another billion dollars, the Sun welcomes a new editor, and Batman and the Joker take over Yonge Street.

John Tory is looking at an option to reroute the Scarborough subway alignment that could increase the cost to the City by $1 billion, according to internal emails obtained by the Star. The rerouting may be necessary because the Scarborough subway extension is so close to John Tory’s signature SmartTrack proposal, and the proximity could threaten the ridership levels needed to make both transit lines viable. The City committed $910 million to the $3.56-billion subway extension in October 2013, but as part of the agreement they also agreed to cover any cost overruns for the project, and to assume operating costs.
Two months into its PostMedia era, the Toronto Sun has a new editor-in-chief: Adrienne Batra. She takes over from Wendy Metcalfe, who spent decades with the company in various capacities. Batra is best known for being Rob Ford’s first press secretary, as well as running communications during his successful 2010 mayoral campaign. After leaving the Ford administration, she joined Sun Media as comment editor and a columnist, and also hosted a show on Sun TV. Batra becomes the first person of colour to assume the top job of one of Toronto’s four major daily newspapers.
“…And Joker got away. Hey!” Filming for the 2016 film Suicide Squad continues in downtown Toronto, and has lured a fair amount of curious onlookers. Yesterday featured a car chase down Yonge Street between the Batmobile and the Joker‘s snazzy magenta vehicle (vanity license plate: HAHAHA). There is no word on how the two Gotham residents feel about the Gardiner east of Jarvis.
