In the news: Platform changes for most GO trains at Union Station, bed bug and cockroach infestations at a TCHC property in Scarborough, and another live music venue closes.

GO commuters are being warned to double-check their departure information at Union Station beginning April 15, when construction will shift most trains to new platforms. Metrolinx will re-open platforms 4 and 5 just as they close platforms 20 and 21, a move that spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins says will affect almost all riders. Aikins says the construction will likely take several months, which includes making the two platforms fully accessible. The renovation is part of the $270-million train shed makeover at Union that was supposed to be complete next year, but will likely continue into 2017.
Residents of a Toronto Community Housing Corporation property at 17 Brimley Road in Scarborough claim that they are dealing with infestations of bed bugs and cockroaches within their housing units. At a meeting on Wednesday night, residents said the problem has been ongoing for some time. TCHC officials say inspections of all units will begin early next month so that pest control can then be brought in.
The city is poised to lose another live music venue, as The Press Club gets set to shut its doors later this month. While Andrew Hickey—who co-owns the venue with his brother Mikael—does not blame the City’s zoning and noise bylaws for the closure, he thinks that they certainly do not help venues that might struggle to attract business. Councillor Mike Layton (Ward 19,Trinity-Spadina) says that once music licensing bylaws are revised, the City needs to do more to support venue owners by providing clearer instructions on their responsibilities. The bar has begun to say goodbye to its regulars and plans to host a final open stage night on Saturday, April 11.
