  • The Liberal government has announced a plan to invest $49.8 billion in Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area public transit, bridges, and highways over the next decade. The budget that was unveiled today also formalized the sale of beer in 450 Ontario supermarkets by the end of 2015, as well as the province’s decision to begin selling off 60 per cent of Hydro One. However, it contained no funding for John Tory’s SmartTrack transit proposal.
  • Lois of Sharon, Lois & Bram has died. 78-year-old Lois Lilienstein, who was part of the popular children’s singing group best known for the catchy “Skinnamarink,” was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer last October.
  • A man has died following a 10 to 20 foot fall at a Bay and Adelaide construction site this morning. The Ministry of Labour was called to the scene to investigate.
