  • It was only a matter of time: the Star‘s Kevin Donovan has landed a deal for a book on the “secret life” of Jian Ghomeshi, to be called (surprise!) Jian Ghomeshi – Secret Life. Besides promising to “tell the story of who the broadcaster with the winning touch really was behind the scenes,” the book will be an industry precedent-setter in that it will be released first as an ebook by Kobo, and then in print by ECW Press.
  • In a press conference earlier today, Mayor Tory announced an “Open Door” initiative to fast-track affordable housing developments. The plan, put forward by the City’s affordable housing committee, will need to get city council’s approval.
  • In a piece of possibly sad news for Toronto’s elite chefs and restaurateurs, the city appears to be losing its taste for high-end restaurants. Munchies reports: “In Toronto, there’s a small population that still wants to be greeted at the door with the proper, ‘Hello, sir. Good evening,’ but that population is dying. And by that I mean they are literally dying because they’re getting old.” On the plus side: shorter lines?
