| FIELD NOTES: | Toronto is one of the safest cities in the world (the eighth safest according to these guys [PDF] – go team!). So why is it that when we go slightly off the beaten path we get the heebie-jeebies? Every movement caught in the corners of our eyes, every innocuous peep, and every shadow cast become dangerous stalkers that could pounce at any moment. But then, having the privilege of living in such a safe city, that enhancement of our senses might be half the fun of going to these places. |
