The Toronto Comic Arts Festival has announced its list of special guests for this year’s event, which fills the Toronto Reference Library with goodness each May.
Among the featured guests are acclaimed alt-horror cartoonist Charles Burns (Black Hole, The Believer illustrations), comics theorist Scott McCloud (Understanding Comics, Sculptor), food-related and travelogue cartoonist Lucy Knisley (French Milk, Displacement), Toronto-based Caldecott Honor recipient Jillian Tamaki (This One Summer), and local troublemaker Chip Zdarsky (Sex Criminals).
They join previously announced guests like Michael DeForge, Jim Rugg, Evan Dahm, and Hellen Jo.
The festival will continue to announce featured guests in the coming weeks.
Despite the tremendous showing of 400 artists from 19 different countries last year, many applicants to the curated festival were turned away as the festival is trying to manage its growth.
TCAF runs from May 9–10 at the reference library and is free to attend. The festival usually features panels and events preceding the weekend as well.
