Scene: Grandmaster Flash at AGO’s Basquiat Launch

A legendary DJ paid tribute to a legendary artist at the AGO's First Thursday.

WHERE: AGO, 317 Dundas Street West

WHEN: Thursday, February 5

WHAT: Last night the AGO was the hottest ticket in town, as the Dundas Street gallery opened its doors for their monthly First Thursday event. The Dundas Street gallery launched their much-anticipated Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibit Now’s the Time, marking the first time that the late New York artist has had a major exhibit in Canada. On hand was Grandmaster Flash, who took New York’s music scene by storm at the same time Basquiat did the same in the fine art scene. Members of Basquiat were also at the event, and warmly embraced Grandmaster Flash. The Basquiat exhibit opens to the public on Saturday, and runs until May 10.
