  • If you were among the 1,300 Christian youth at this past weekend’s Acquire the Fire festival, the Ontario health ministry says you may have acquired a little something extra, too: measles. The event, described as a weekend that “changes your teen’s life forever,” has been deemed the largest measles exposure to date at this point in the growing outbreak—though with an estimated 98 per cent of Ontario teens currently immunized against the disease, we can hope that mere “exposure” is where it stops.
  • The U.K. does a few things better than we do (rain, Cadbury products), but another thing they do really well—music festivals—is migrating on over across the pond for us to reap the sweet, sweet rewards. The Isle of Wight’s Bestival will make its North American debut on the Toronto Islands from June 12 through 14 and promises “theatricality, ambition” according to its founder Rob da Bank. To which we say: Cool.
  • Meanwhile, in Brampton, a man bought a jacket at a local Value Village and found $250 worth of cocaine in the pocket. Despite the total futility of tracing the jacket back to its original owners, police are investigating anyway.
