Spotted: Cosplay at Nathan Phillips Square

Public spaces are for making public scenes, and these cosplayers made the most of City Hall on Saturday.

SPOTTED BY: Brian Crosby

WHERE: Nathan Phillips Square (100 Queen Street West)

WHEN: January 24, 2014, 2 p.m.

WHAT: You would be forgiven for thinking that a mini–Fan Expo took place on Saturday at City Hall. That’s because the rink at Nathan Phillips Square played host to the third annual XMOT Cosplay Skate, where people dressed up in their favourite costumes, exactly as Viljo Revell envisioned they would. Among the participants who took to the ice were the Doctor, Sailor Moon, and Wolverine, who are all exciting; Cyclops, whom only Jean Grey can love, was also there. The event collected clothes for the Sanctuary, a downtown shelter. You can donate, too, even if you are not a superhero.
