Proof that Toronto's hip-hop scene is in a very good way.
A well-known commodity in the Toronto hip-hop scene, Junia-T delivers with Eye See You.
You might know Junia-T as one-half of open-mic crowd-pleasers Smash Brovaz. With the release of Eye See You, MC-slash-producer Junia-T reaches a new level of artistic mastery and precision. Production is on point—Junia-T inspires the requisite amount of head-nodding with fresh and polished beats. The project features a bevy of guest spots and collaborators (including LordQuest and Emerson Brooks), which add aural spice to the mix. At 15 tracks, Eye See You doesn’t feel overstuffed, in part because it displays so much musical variety: some tracks evoke classic hip-hop vibes, while others feel cinematic and futuristic in scope.
The lyrical content matter isn’t especially heavy or profound, but it’s breezy enough that that doesn’t matter much in the overall scheme of things. Local hip-hop is in a good way, and Junia-T’s latest is proof.
