Metrolinx and TTC Launch Fare Integration Project

For an additional $60, you can get unlimited travel on the GO corridor between Exhibition and the Danforth.

GO Transit will try to make your downtown commute slightly easier with the introduction of more affordable fares for TTC users.

In an announcement at the Danforth GO station, Metrolinx and the TTC launched a fare integration pilot project between the two agencies. For an additional $60 a month, Metropass users will be able to get unlimited GO transit between the Exhibition and Danforth GO stations and Union Station. The passes-a sticker slapped onto your Metropass-will be available for sale starting January 26 at Union, Exhibition, and Danforth stations, and will go into effect on February 1.

While the passes could see some popularity in transit-needy Liberty Village where the King streetcar is regularly packed, the Globe and Mail points out that GO is also near capacity at rush hour. Officials did not give firm estimates or goals for the one-year pilot project, but touted a goal to get people from Liberty Village to Union Station in 14 minutes or less, and from the Danforth GO Station to Union Station in 16 minutes or less.
