For the equivalent of a cardiologist’s annual salary, you can own burger joint Dangerous Dan’s. The Queen and Broadview institution famous for its coronary burger is up for sale for $225,000 and comes with monthly rent of $4,500. It also boasts 1,200 square feet for retail, seating for 28 (many of them re-purposed car seats), and really greasy burgers.
Since its opening in 1999, Dangerous Dan’s has been a local landmark. Its cheeky menu, offering such fare as the Colossal Colon Clogger Combo and the 24-ounce Bulls Balls Burger, comes across as part novelty, dare, and late-night first-aid kit. And over the years, it became something for the Riverside community to rely on.
But the Queen and Broadview area, where Dangerous Dan’s is located, is rapidly changing. Across the street, the other landmark, the 1893 Romanesque building that hosted strip club Jilly’s until this past summer is being transformed into the New Broadview Hotel, going for something of a Drake east vibe. It’s questionable where a place like Dangerous Dan’s, despite its charms, fits into that landscape.
