Why are you reading this when you should be shopping?

|FIELD NOTES:||We hope your holiday was full of rest and relaxation, and that you enjoyed the company of loved ones, and, if you were so inclined, gave/received meaningful gifts. But enough of feeling grateful: today is Boxing Day, the day we celebrate our inner masochists, and it’s time to go shopping!!! One might think the name comes from the fisticuffs that will occur over trivial, well-priced items. Even our street artists know it’s deal-hunting season. But why appreciate bargain-themed art when you could be shopping?!? Heck, what are you doing reading this column? You could be missing out on great deals on toilet paper, boy toys, or anything else under the sun. And if you don’t return at the end of the day with a black eye, a busted lip or, at the very least, a few scratches and bruises, you’re doing it wrong.|
