Vandalist: Monster in the Alley

Sometimes size does matter.

FIELD NOTES: We love the creativity that went into making this strange beast. Have you ever tried inventing a creature? We have, and it is not an easy task. But as much as we respect the imagination and artistic skill on display here, it’s the size of the thing that especially floors us. Seven feet by 35 feet is impressive even for a piece of “legitimate” art (i.e., art not typically at risk of removal by pressure washer). But a “legitimate” piece this is not. When SEWP and EAGLS made this, they put themselves and their work at risk—and that is some serious commitment.

Once a week, Vandalist features some of the most interesting street art and graffiti from around Toronto. Find something great? Email [email protected].
