Sound Advice: Things Fall Together, by Falana
This Canadian-Nigerian artist is full of soul—and her latest EP only hints at her potential.

Toronto-based artist Falana is someone you might have missed in 2014. If so, you need to get caught up—and her EP Things Fall Together is a good place to start.
For the past while, the singer and instrumentalist, whose full name is Victoria Falana, has slowly built up her name and reputation in the local scene. Featuring just five tracks, Things Fall Together is a bit on the short side—the slices of breezy horn and acoustic guitar–driven soul here definitely warrant a longer stay.
Falana recently spent time in Havana, Cuba, and it shows: her vocal phrasings, rich timbre, and folk sensibilities carry more than a little Afro-Latin zest—and the EP only hints at her full potential.
Overall, Things Fall Together offers just the musical warmth you need to get you through these cold December days.
