Extra, Extra: Toronto Skyline Porn, Tory on the TPSB, and Black Friday Madness

Every weekday’s end, we collect just about everything you ought to care about or ought not to miss.

  • Over the past four years, Ryan Emond has been shooting scenes of the Toronto skyline from different heights and during different seasons: the result is a “full-frontal visual journey through Toronto’s growing skyline.” Clouds rush by, fireworks explode, buildings grow and change—and there’s a fast-paced subway ride thrown in for good measure.
  • Mayor-elect John Tory will sit on the Police Services Board in an attempt, CP24 explains, “to ease tensions involving the Toronto Police Services board.” Tory’s office indicated that neither Councillor Michael Thompson (Ward 37, Scarborough Centre) nor Councillor Frances Nunziata (Ward 11, York South-Weston) will be invited back. In a sign that Tory’s moves have not yet eased all tensions, Councillor Doug Ford (Ward 2, Etobicoke North) commented, “It’s a terrible idea. They were the only two that held police accountable.”
  • It’s possible you’re reading this while standing patiently line for a sweet, sweet Black Friday deal—or while desperately trying to negotiate the crowds of people also trying to get some sweet, sweet Black Friday deals. If so, it’s worth considering the fact that prices tend to go lower the week after Black Friday, and that maybe you should go home, enjoy the calm and quiet, and head back out on Monday.
