  • Today was a very exciting day for Toronto plane and/or largest-things-in-the-world enthusiasts: the AN-225 Mriya, which happens to be the largest plane in the world, touched down at Pearson this past Monday and then took off from the airport today. You can watch video of it hefting its largeness up into the sky or look at a rendering that illustrates how much larger it is than an NHL-sized hockey rink.
  • Mayor-elect John Tory has responded to the City’s filing of an application for a court injunction against Uber—the company responsible for a taxi-hailing app you may or may not have heard of before everyone started talking about it yesterday. “I just think we use what I’ll call old-fashioned methods like court cases … when in fact these kinds of technological changes are here to stay,” Tory said.
  • Jordan Tannahill, one of our 2013 heroes for his work with Videofag, has won this year’s Governor General’s Award for English-language drama. Yesterday, he sat down with As It Happens to talk about his award-winning three-play collection, Age of Minority; using plays as teaching tools; and definitions of queerness.
