Extra, Extra: Delayed Spadina Subway Extension, TTC Delays, and Another Good-Looking Election Map

Every weekday’s end, we collect just about everything you ought to care about or ought not to miss.

  • If you’ve been looking forward to the prospect of travelling to York University via the subway in 2016, you may be out of luck: bad weather and issues with contractors are among various factors that have conspired to delay the project. “We’re looking to recover [from] the delays, but right now I’d say there’s a risk that the end date of 2016 will not be met,” said TTC CEO Andy Byford.

  • If you were looking forward to a hassle-free transit commute this morning, you might also have been out of luck: mechanical issues on both the Yonge-University-Spadina and Bloor-Danforth lines resulted in service interruptions and delays. “We really do appreciate people’s patience and understanding,” said TTC spokesperson Brad Ross. “I know that’s hard to accept when these things happen. We are working incredibly hard to bring this system up to the standard it needs to be brought up to.”
  • Even those whose have lost their election-map sense of wonder by this point may find themselves charmed and enlightened by this offering: it illustrates the poll-by-poll results from the 2014 election and also manages to be damn good-looking.
