No Subway Service Between Bloor and Eglinton Stations This Weekend

The TTC is once again shutting down a portion of Line 1 for track work.

Another weekend has arrived, and with it another subway shutdown. On November 1 and 2, there will be no subway service on Line 1 (Yonge-University-Spadina) between Bloor and Eglinton stations due to track work.

As usual, frequent shuttle buses will operate between the two stations, and Wheel-Trans vehicles will be available for customers who use mobility devices. Alternate routes to subway service on Line 1 include the 32 Eglinton West bus (which stops at Eglinton West Station) and the 512 St. Clair streetcar (which stops at St. Clair West Station).

TTC staff will be on hand offering assistance to customers at all stations affected by the closure, and three stations along the route—Rosedale, St. Clair, and Davisville—will remain open for connecting bus routes. Those three stations will be open on Saturday for fare transactions, too, although only Rosedale and St. Clair will be open for fare transactions on Sunday. Summerhill Station will be closed all weekend.

The shutdown is part of the TTC’s ongoing (some would say neverending) effort to upgrade its tracks and switches, which are 60 years old on this stretch of Line 1.

Subway service will be back to normal starting Monday, November 3, at 6 a.m.—but riders can expect another shutdown next weekend, when track work is set to resume.
