Extra, Extra: Unidentified Film Commissioners, Ontario’s Worst Road, and Skyping With Rob Ford

Every weekday’s end, we collect just about everything you ought to care about or ought not to miss.

  • On Thursday, Torontonians will meet their new “Film Commissioner and Director of Entertainment Industries.” All the City is prepared to reveal before then about the individual in question is that he or she is “a well-known Canadian actor, writer, director and producer who has many years of experience in television and film.” Who could it be? Polley? McKellar? Or perhaps the man mentioned here, who has written things (such as TekWar), directed things (such as T.J. Hooker), produced things (TekWar again), and acted in pretty much everything else.
  • If while driving or walking along Dufferin Street recently, you’ve found yourself thinking, “This really is the very worst road in Ontario,” apparently you’re not alone. And if while driving or walking along Kipling Avenue, you’ve found yourself thinking, “This really is the third-worst road in Ontario”—again, you’re not alone.
  • Were you aware that today is John Tory’s birthday? Well, it is. It’s also Rob Ford’s birthday. Although he is currently in rehab, people are throwing him a birthday party here, and he will, it seems, be making a birthday-party-appearance-from-rehab via Skype.
