307499 We are hoping that is a friendly undersea ice creature, because it is pretty much the same size as that ice boat. 307500 Getting hit in the face by ice flakes might not be so bad if you're busy building a large ice seahorse. 307503 It's generally not a good idea to eat brown snow or ice, but when in you're in Yorkville, you should make an exception: this man is busy preparing delicious maple toffee. WHERE: Village of Yorkville Park
WHEN: Saturday, February 22
WHAT: The ninth annual Icefest , which, as the name suggests, is a festival devoted to ice—or rather, to the whimsical, impressive, detailed sculptures that can be carved out of the stuff. This year’s fest featured the “Heat Wave Ice Exhibit,” which saw 20,000 pounds of ice shaped into things either not common in these parts (e.g. palm trees, dolphins, mermaids), or things only barely remembered in these parts because they’ve been in hiding for many, many months (e.g., the sun).
