New documentary gives us a glimpse behind the scenes at the TTC.
T2PO Films spent over a year filming and interviewing TTC employees, and its finished work, Moving Toronto: Underground with the Toronto Transit Commission, gives viewers a sense of the wide-ranging responsibilities, concerns, and talents of 18 different TTC staffers. We meet subway operators, tower/transit controllers, a line mechanic, a subway supervisor, and a subway instructor—and hear from the TTC’s CEO, Andy Byford.
The company behind this series of five videos is not in any way associated with the TTC—the production sprang from T2PO Films’ enduring interest in transit. Something else that has sprung from that enduring interest: T2PO’s “virtual TTC academy,” which allows you to become a virtual subway operator (and possibly at some point even a virtual TTC tower controller) by completing practice runs on an open-source train simulator. And did we mention you also get your own badge number?
