Scene: Factory Theatre Renovation

Phase one of the theatre's renovation project will make the venue more accessible, but not more soundproof.

WHERE: Factory Theatre, 125 Bathurst Street

WHEN: Tuesday, January 21

WHAT: Expanded and renovated space for the Factory Theatre, involving an elevator to the main space, and one main building entrance that can be supervised by fewer staffers/volunteers. While this renovation will address issues related to accessibility and staffing requirements, it will not result in a reduction of sound bleed (e.g., thumps and the noise of rattling lights) between the two performance spaces, deal with some concerns related to the building’s overall state of good repair, or produce an aesthetically pleasing and welcoming lobby. Phase two of the Factory’s renovation project will take place in the summer of 2014—it will create improvements in and a fully accessible lobby space for the Factory’s Studio Theatre.
