- In “news that applies to not one person we personally know” news, wealthy Canadians are now saying they’ll need to have $2.3 million saved up in order to retire in comfort. Thankfully, it appears the prospect of having to save this much money will not create many sleepless and careworn rich people: “Among high-net-worth respondents, 95 per cent said they are optimistic about their ability to save for retirement.”
- Even if you aren’t in a position to face post-work life with a cool $2.3 million in your bank-sized pocket, you should at the very least get a retirement party. It appears not everyone at the TTC feels the same way, though, because one employee—who spent 31 years with the organization—recently posted a video of his last day on the job, which seems to have mostly involved his walking through empty rooms and finding no well-wishers or parties at all.
- Some Durham police employees also posted a video recently: in it, they make many jokes about trying to get out of cell-block duty, wear their uniforms, use police equipment in police facilities, and (for no apparent reason) wave goodbye to President Obama. Durham police chief Mike Ewles was not impressed, and there will now be an internal investigation.
