- Who among us has not at some point mused: “What this city needs is a gondola of the sky.” Well, sensible, gondola-loving people, there is a company the Star refers to as “fledgling and mysterious” that is currently “exploring” the idea of building a cable-car system up in the air above the Don Valley Parkway. And if there’s any kind of company we’d like to see building mechanical things intended for service above the ground, it’s a fledgling and mysterious one.
- It just doesn’t feel like a new year in Toronto unless there’s also talk of a brand-new Olympic bid: thankfully, we can all now embrace 2014, because it seems the City will once again be looking at whether to make a case to host the games.
- You may recall that the boundaries of known cuteness were recently pushed back when Toronto Zoo panda Da Mao was shown playing in the snow. It turns out that Da Mao has been recognized for his important work in the field of downright adorableness: he’s been nominated in the “Favourite Panda Outside of China” category of the Giant Panda Zoo’s 2013 awards. Voting ends today, so act quickly if you want to show your support for our very own panda ambassador.
