Holyday and Hunter are the Apparent Winners in Today’s By-Elections
With most polls reporting, CBC is predicting the winners in today’s five provincial by-elections, two of which were in Toronto ridings. In Scarborough-Guildwood, Liberal candidate Mitzie Hunter appears to be headed to Queen’s Park, having outdone Ken Kirupa and Adam Giambrone, the Progressive Conservative and NDP candidates. In Etobicoke-Lakeshore, meanwhile, Deputy Mayor Doug Holyday, who ran for the Tories, seems to have have eked out a narrow victory over his City Hall colleague, Liberal candidate Councillor Peter Milczyn. Mayor Rob Ford has said that Councillor Norm Kelly will take over as deputy mayor when Holyday assumes his new role as an MPP.
Torontoist will have more in the morning.
