NOTES: The August 1 provincial by-election in Scarborough-Guildwood became much more interesting when Adam Giambrone won the NDP nomination. A former TTC chair who is perhaps best known for aborting his 2010 mayoral bid after admitting to having affairs with multiple women, he has huge name recognition to counterbalance his obvious political baggage. Even so, he’s had difficulty rallying the local riding association to his side (one of his rivals for the nomination even briefly considered legal action against him), and it would appear that the broader community isn’t sold on him either. Despite consistent improvement in Giambrone’s poll numbers over the past month, Mitzie Hunter, the former CEO of CivicAction, looks poised to retake the riding for the Grits. (It was formerly held by Liberal MPP Margarett Best.)
