  • This is admittedly not directly Toronto related, but it seems very important that we call your attention to the fact that downtown Calgary is basically underwater and is being evacuated. Our thoughts are with you, wet Calgarians.
  • And here’s a disaster of a different sort. Toronto’s Green Lane landfill, in Southwold, Ontario, is apparently so foul smelling that the City has spent $3.3 million buying adjacent properties to create a buffer zone between it and civilization, with limited success.
  • Hershey Canada has admitted to conspiring with other companies to fix the price of chocolate in Canada. It’s been fined $4 million. Nestlé, Mars, and a distributor called Itwal Ltd. all plan to fight the charges, meaning they could end up being liable for as much $10 million a piece.
  • Side note: Mark Towhey, who was Mayor Rob Ford’s chief of staff before he was fired in May, has been hilarious on Twitter ever since he lost his job.
