  • Have you ever gone out drinking and ordered a “house beer” named after the pub? Evidently, a lot of the time those mysterious brews are nothing more than Amsterdam Blonde.
  • After touting his 2013 City budget for weeks, Mayor Rob Ford voted against it at council today. This is almost as weird as running for political office and then voting for the other guy. It makes no sense, and Ford has yet to explain.
  • Harper’s Magazine lashed out sarcastically at the “nefarious” CBC yesterday after reporting as fact a satirical story from the broadcaster’s fake-news radio show, This is That. Says the Post: “This is That’s tendency for hyper-regional in-jokes, such as an August story on NASCAR coming to Vancouver, can sometimes make the show’s satire hard for Canadians to interpret, much less the foreign media.” That’s about as close as a newspaper reporter can come to pointing out that something isn’t very funny.
  • The Toronto Taxpayers Coalition, long suspected by City Hall watchers of being an astroturf organization with few—if any—actual members, was suspended from Twitter recently, apparently for faking a “verified” badge.
