Extra, Extra: Simulated Subways, Flow-Charted NIMBYs, and Extraordinary Beer

Every weekday’s end, Extra, Extra collects just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.

  • Did you know that there’s a TTC subway-driving simulator that you can download, and that it’s been around for so long that it’s now entering version three? Strange, but true. A video trailer of the new version, released earlier this week, is above. More details are here.
  • If you’re rabidly opposed to some sort of development in your neighbourhood, you probably spend a lot of time asking yourself, “Am I a NIMBY?” Fortunately, The Grid has made a handy flow chart that should clear things up for you.
  • There is a beer called Westvleteren 12. Apparently it’s made by Belgian monks, and is considered by some to be the best beer in the world. (For our money, any beer we happen to be drinking is, in that moment, the best beer in the world.) Apparently people are lining up at LCBOs all over town to get this stuff at $76.85 per six-pack, because there are only 1,404 of them in all of Ontario and the brew is so rare that we’ll probably never see more. The Star says one store sold out in four minutes this morning.
  • And if you are a crazy person with money to pour down your throat and time to wait in line, Toronto Life has called around to LCBOs all over town, and found out where the superbeer is likely to surface next.
