Duly Quoted: Rob Ford

“It is all politics, I truly believe that… I truly believe I didn’t do anything wrong. If they just dismiss me from office, I guarantee I’ll run again… The next day, I’ll start campaigning.”

—Mayor Rob Ford, speaking about his upcoming conflict-of-interest hearing to CP24’s Stephen LeDrew. The hearing, which is scheduled from September 5 to 7, will look into allegations that Ford violated conflict-of-interest law by speaking at and voting on an issue at city council—whether he should be sanctioned for using City resources to solicit donations for his football foundation—when he had a personal, financial interest in that matter. When the interview turned to political matters, Ford returned to one of his favourites: “No matter what, we’re getting subways. We’re getting that Sheppard subway.”
