Sometimes we all need to be noticed.

FIELD NOTES: | It’s difficult to feel as though we’re able to make a difference in our world. Everything is so vast, and it all moves so quickly. It seems daunting, even impossible, to create change. We feel helpless, like a child. Sometimes we need to shout, “I was here.” And sometimes that means recognizing our inner child’s innate desire to scrawl on walls. “Look what I have created,” these markings seem to say. They are both a cry for attention and a proud accomplishment. They ensure that after we’re gone, there will be proof we were here—and that we made a difference. |
Once a week, Vandalist features some of the most interesting street art and graffiti from around Toronto. Find something great? Email [email protected].
