Luka Rocco Magnotta Reportedly Arrested in Berlin

After an international chase that forced investigators to follow a trail of security-camera footage from Montreal to Paris, Luka Rocco Magnotta, the accused in the now-infamous case of the dismembered body, has reportedly been arrested in Berlin. Magnotta—whom police suspect of being the person responsible for murdering 33-year-old Justin Lin and then mailing some of his body parts to political party headquarters in Ottawa—was living in Montreal at the time the crime was committed. He was born in Scarborough, as Eric Clinton Newman, according to the Star, and spent much of his life in Toronto.

CORRECTION: June 4, 2012, 5:20 pm This post originally said that Magnotta mailed “body parts” to Conservative Party headquarters. In fact, only one part—a foot—was sent to that address. A severed hand was addressed to Liberal Party headquarters.
