Spotted: Toronto Plays Tokyo

SPOTTED BY: suesthegrl, from the Tornotoist Flickr Pool.
WHERE: Elizabeth Street
WHEN: Tuesday, April 10
WHAT: Elizabeth Street—which runs between College and Dundas Streets, just west of Bay—was transformed into a Tokyo-esque spectacle yesterday, so that it could act as an appropriate backdrop for director Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming film, currently known as Pacific Rim. (That Japanese lettering is actually affixed to City Hall.) According to IMDB, the story will be a timeless one: alien invaders versus giant, human-piloted robots.
