WHEN: Monday, April 9
WHAT: It was a rough one, the Jays’ return to home turf. After some strong early-inning defense by infielders Yunel Escobar and Brett Lawrie, and the game’s first run by outfielder Colby Rasmus things eventually devolved; closer Sergio Santos struggled to hit the plate in the ninth inning and left the field to a chorus of boos. Rough for other reasons, too: beer sales restrictions didn’t go quite so smoothly, either. True, there were fewer scuffles in the stands than in previous years—but the tension just moved outside, where frustrated fans bickered, scrapped, chugged brews between floors, negotiated lengthy queues, and got thoroughly annoyed with each other. The Old Brawl Game?
