Extra, Extra: Subways, Lofts, and Twittering Malls

Every weekday’s end, Extra, Extra collects just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.

Flyer by SAFE, debunking by CodeRedTO.

  • In the run-up to next week’s council vote on the fate of Rob Ford’s Sheppard subway extension, CodeRedTO, a group that opposes the extension and is in favour of evidence-based transit planning, continues to fight the war of words. They’ve just released a thorough debunking [PDF, and screencapped above] of a flyer by their opposite number, a pro-subway campaign known as SAFE.
  • Is it still possible to find a cool, legally dubious industrial loft downtown, for all your live/work needs? The answer, apparently, is yes. But not for much longer.
  • The time has come to acknowledge the genius of like 75% of the posts on this parody Pacific Mall Twitter feed, and also to condemn the other 25%, which are pretty racist.
  • Where was this video when Mayor Ford needed it?
  • Speaking of Mayor Ford, here is video of him having a fishing contest with the publisher of the Toronto Sun. We’re guessing Ford doesn’t do this type of thing with executives from Torstar. [via Jonathan Goldsbie]
