Countdown Clock Ticking on Library Labour Disruption
Labour ministry issues no board report; strike or lockout possible in 17 days.
Word from the Toronto Public Library this afternoon: Ontario’s Ministry of Labour has granted a “no board” report, indicating that hopes for a negotiated settlement between library workers and the City of Toronto are fading. This means that both sides will be in a legal strike/lockout position as of Sunday, March 18. TPL’s press release reiterates that their bargaining unit, CUPE 4948 is committed to continuing negotiations; meetings are scheduled for the coming weeks and the bargaining process is right now expected to continue.
More to come.
