The Real Jerk Wins Its Injunction, Will Stay Open For Now
Ed and Lily Pottinger, owners of The Real Jerk, announced yesterday evening that the beloved Caribbean restaurant will not be forced to close down immediately, despite the wishes of the property’s new landlord, Bill Mandelbaum, who was hoping to rent the site out to an Irish pub that had agreed to pay nearly double The Real Jerk’s rent. The Pottingers won a court injunction that will enable them to stay in business at the corner of Queen Street and Broadview Avenue for the time being. They reportedly have a month to strike a new deal with Mandelbaum.
