Scene: Walkway Collapse at University and College
WHERE: Ontario Power Generation building, southwest corner of University Avenue and College Street
WHEN: 12:30 p.m.
WHAT: The underside of the entrance to the OPG building collapsed this morning, drawing police and construction crews to the scene. It looks worse than it is, fortunately: officials told us that they had known for at least a couple of days that the drywall faced problems—they’d seen some significant cracks—and they had the area cordoned off. Nobody was injured in the collapse, and workers in the building say they didn’t even hear the ceiling cave. Barricades have been installed on-site, but the building remains open; it is believed the collapse caused no structural damage.
