- The iconic Flatiron Building was put up for sale a little while ago, and sell it did—and now the new owner is looking for tenants. Toronto Life has a photo set of the interior to explore—handy for potential renters and jealous gawkers alike.
- Many remarkable things have been said in Toronto lately, particularly at City Hall. For instance: in the wake of today’s legal opinion on the powers of the mayor, Rob Ford says he didn’t win the election after all; and budget chief Mike Del Grande (Ward 39, Scarborough-Agincourt) admits he introduced a motion just to piss off left-leaning councillors. Possibly able to help these elected officials understand the value of, well, keeping your mouth shut sometimes, will be George Christopoulos: it was announced today that he will be the mayor’s new press secretary, starting February 6. (Just in time for a potential labour dispute!)
- Retrontario has been charming us for a while with vintage television and commercial clips, which they’ve been uploading to YouTube. YouTube’s terms and conditions prevent them from uploading a lot of their material, however (because of limits around copyright), and so they have launched a stand-alone website with previously unavailable videos. Happy procrastinating!
