Toronto Film Critic Association Awards Announced

Celebrating the best of 2011 in film

It’s that time of year, film fans. The time when we look back and reminisce about all those hours spent in dark rooms with strangers, eating stale food and wondering what’s stuck to the bottom of our feet. But hey, sometimes what’s projecting on the silver screen is so good we forget about all these bodily discomforts and, yes you guessed it, we just get swept away.

Adding their voice to the 2011 awards circuit the Toronto Film Critic Association announced their winners for this season today, with Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life and Jeff Nichols’ Take Shelter garnering top nods.

In a press release on the TFCA’s choices, the association’s president and film critic at Maclean’s, Brian D. Johnson said: “With both Tree of Life and Take Shelter, our members chose to honour ambitious films that took bold risks.”

We couldn’t agree more. Here’s to the year that was and looking forward to 2012.
