The TTC wants you to start 2012 off happy, safe, and a few dollars richer, so they’re closing up their fare boxes from midnight to 4 a.m. on January 1 and extending service on most routes. The subway will run more frequently than its usual late-night schedule, arriving every five minutes, and after 4 a.m. the Blue Night bus will get the hardcore partiers across town. On January 1, the subway starts up again at 9 a.m. and usual Sunday service will be in effect for all routes. The TTC, and Torontoist, also wants you to not even dare to think of driving drunk or letting your tipsy friends and family get behind the wheel. There are so many other, better ways to ring in the New Year than an ambulance ride.
