Extra, Extra: Astral and Loblaws, Menaces to the Street
Every weekday’s end, we collect just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.

- As if the new Astal Media info pillars weren’t bad enough: they are taking out bikes now, too. Not just bike parking—ring-and-posts have been removed at some locations to make room for the pillars—but actual bikes. Behold the sad photo above, showing a ring-and-post cut at the base with a bike still attached.
- Also in things we wish we could unsee: this graffiti at the new Queen West location of Loblaws. As tweeted by horrified shopper (and Torontoist alum) Sarah Nicole Prickett: “The culture war is over and everyone lost.”
- Toronto Star reporter Catherine Porter wrote a sweet story about having lunch with her childhood bully, injecting some much-needed detail into a conversation that is often too abstract to be helpful. (Related: the province is currently considering anti-bullying legislation.)
- In happier news, as of tomorrow all City-run outdoor skating rinks will be open, and weather permitting will remain open until the end of February. A full list of those rinks, along with their conditions, is available online.
