Urban Planner: November 30, 2011

In today's Urban Planner: it's the end of November and you can shop for a cause at the CBC Charity Craft Sale, bid adieu to moustaches at Laughstache, and stop by Devon Williams' show at the Garrison.

FUNDRAISER: Running short on gift ideas for the holiday season? If so, the CBC Charity Craft Sale may have something that fits the bill. The 17th annual sale runs all day with proceeds supporting UNICEF for child survival, including HIV testing and prevention in Africa. CBC (250 Front Street West), 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., FREE (except your purchases).

COMEDY FUNDRAISER: Women across the city are celebrating the fact that it’s only a matter of hours before the men in their lives finally stop looking like ’70s porn stars. Before the moustache officially goes into hibernation for the year, why not head out and showcase that piece of upper-lip beauty at Laughstache? The evening of comedy will feature performances by the Imponderables, Illusionoid, Lee Smart, Sean Cullen, British Teeth, Ron Sparks, Debra DiGiovanni, and Daniel Stolfi, with all proceeds going to the Movember Foundation. Hard Luck Bar (772A Dundas Street West), 8 p.m., $10–$15.

MUSIC: Devon Williams’ sophomore album, Euphoria, hit store shelves across North America on November 15. The L.A.-based pop singer embarked on a tour to promote his newest work earlier this month and makes a stop in Toronto today. The follow-up to his first album, Carefree, includes the single “Your Sympathy,” which Pitchfork called both “swoony” and “ultra-jangly.” The Garrison (1197 Dundas Street West), 8:30 p.m., $10.50–$12.
