The Evil League of Sexy
Because the nerd-themed burlesque niche is sorely underserved, the Toronto Underground Cinema has readied a second official instalment of its popular Underground Peepshow. After sultrily dipping a toe into the steamy waters of risqué stage performance with the fundraising event Holy Boobies Batman!, the Peepshow troupe staged their first full-blown burlesque event back in August. Entitled Marvelesque, it featured a series of sexy and comedic takes on Stan Lee’s iconic roster of heroes and villains and played to a audience of adoring comic-book enthusiasts.
This latest show, labelled the The Evil League of Sexy, will be a multimedia affair, featuring 13 performers portraying an alluring assortment of dastardly baddies from movies, TV shows, video games, and books. In support of Movember, and in an nod to the villainous tradition of the moustache twirl, an “evil moustache painting booth” will be erected in the lobby to daub punters with killer cookie-dusters in exchange for a cash donation. If you fancy donning an evil ‘stache for a good cause and enjoying some geek-approved adult entertainment (and who wouldn’t?), The Evil League of Sexy hits the Underground on Saturday, November 26.
